Scholarship at Windle Trust International
For nearly three decades, Windle Trust International has forged formidable scholarship partnerships with a number of UK universities to provide postgraduate opportunities to young people who will provide leadership and professional skills in African societies recovering from the devastating effect of protracted wars and conflicts. Each year, on average, about 18-20 scholars come to the UK to study for one-year taught masters programmes. In Sudan each year the programme supports around 60 to 100 refugees to study undergraduate level courses at universities and colleges in Sudan. They study a wide range of subjects essential for development such as engineering, agriculture, health, rural and community development, economics, computing and management. Students selected for sponsorship are from disadvantaged backgrounds and in need of financial support, with academic ability, leadership potential and a commitment to their community. Around 70% of supported students are girls.
