Language Learning at Verbling
Verbling is now sponsoring Swedish lessons for Syrian refugees. Since 2012, 93,350 Syrians fleeing war have sought asylum in Sweden. The number has grown rapidly during the worsening course of the conflict, and Sweden now accepts the most refugees per capita in the European Union. However, in Sweden jobless rates among migrants from Africa and the Middle East are approximately triple the national average. One of the causes is the language barrier that exists between newly arrived immigrants and Swedish employers.By sponsoring Swedish language lessons for Syrian refugees, Verbling seeks to expand opportunities for highly motivated new contributors to Swedish society. Syrian refugees anywhere in Sweden can take lessons with a Swedish language teacher on Verbling. They can even prepare for immersion by starting their online lessons while still in Syria or during the journey to Sweden.
