Born out of a citizen movement, SINGA creates opportunities for engagement and collaboration between refugees and their host society. Together we build bridges between individuals to live together, enriching our culture and creating jobs, in an awareness-raising process to deconstruct prejudices about asylum.

"Startup Refugees was set up in September 2015 to harness the entrepreneurial spirit and professionalism of asylum seekers arriving in Finland for our society. Behind the initiative was a million miles of the world that went to Madventures duo Riku Rantala and Tunna Milonoff. Startup Refugees is a non-profit, private volunteer network that supports the entrepreneurship, employment and professionalism of active asylum seekers.

Over 500 organizations, including companies, associations, foundations, educational institutions, public sector actors and private individuals have enrolled in the network. Each member of the network will be able to participate in the asylum seekers' employment and entrepreneurship in a concrete way. Most of the members of the network donate their time and expertise directly to asylum seekers.

The Startup Refugees network was launched in November 2015, when hundreds of volunteers moved to reception centers to map asylum seekers' expertise in three different locations in Finland."
