"This project, named “CHINESECOM – Competences in Elementary Chinese as a mean to improve competitiveness of European Union companies”, is sponsored by the European Union under the Lifelong Learning Programme, (LLP) - Key Activity 2 - Multilateral project.

The project face the problem of the lack of multimedia material adapted to the real needs of the companies’ staff and young students following university or vocational training courses, when they start leaning Chinese.

The project starts by carrying out a research about the real needs of the companies’ staff when they travel to China, as well as those of the schools giving Chinese language courses. Then, a multimedia training course will be produced, based on the highlighted needs.

The course will include 10 Units and will be available on this site, together with other relevant information about the Chinese language and culture, general information about the project and a FORUM."

Arising from the commencement of the Education and Training Boards Act, 16 Education and Training Boards (ETBs) were established on 1st July 2013. Upon establishment, the ETBs had responsibility for the delivery of primary, post primary and further education in line with their predecessor VECs. The Education and Training Boards Act 2013 was passed in May 2013. The Act provides for the dissolution of Vocational Education Committees (VECs) and for the establishment of the 16 Education and Training Boards (ETBs) through a process involving the merger of some of the 33 existing VECs. Following the amalgamation of former County and City of Cork VECs, the Cork Education and Training Board (CETB) was established.

By awarding scholarships and providing customized programmes which promote transnational cooperation and university partnerships, the DAAD provides students, researchers and instructors the chance to study, work and conduct research at the best institutions in Germany and nearly any other country abroad. The DAAD's budget, which totals 500 million Euros (2016), is primarily financed by the German government, the European Union and other public and private donors. Currently, the DAAD has around 1,400 engaged at the head office in Bonn, Germany or other offices abroad.

The Digital Steps Fellowship is a collaboration between Build Up and the British Council Syria. Fellowships are awarded to organisations or initiatives working for Syria. Fellows do not need to be based inside Syria, but must be working on issues relating to Syria. Civil society organisations, creative enterprises and social enterprises all qualify. Organisations or initiatives should apply with a team of two people. These two people must have the ability to legally travel to Beirut (with financial support from the program).
