The Catalyst Foundation provides a small number of need-based scholarships each year to promising young individuals outside the United States to allow them to pursue educational opportunities at the post-secondary or tertiary level. Catalyst scholarships may be used to pursue a formal degree, or to attend non-degree-granting educational programs such as language study or skills development programs.
Applicants must have an interest in using their continued education to improve their lives and communities, and have demonstrated financial need. Priority will be given to applicants from low and middle income countries, or regions where educational opportunities are scarce. U.S. Citizens are ineligible for Catalyst Foundation scholarships, as are Catalyst Foundation staff, trustees, and officers, and their family members.
The Catalyst Foundation Scholarship primarily serves as a bridging grant to supplement existing scholarships and financial aid. While the maximum amount of each award is $30,000, most finalists will receive between $3,000 and $7,000. The award may be used for all bona fide expenses associated with educational programs, including but not limited to tuition, room, board, books, and travel expenses. Those applicants who request funding for full tuition and living costs above the amount of the average award are unlikely to receive support.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and decisions on applications will be made quarterly. Successful applicants will be notified either in January, April, July or October, depending on when they submit their application. If applicants need a decision by a particular deadline, they should apply at least three months before that deadline (i.e. if a decision is needed by April, applicants should apply by January). Scholarship finalists will be asked to provide evidence of financial need and proof of admission to the indicated educational opportunity.
APPLICANTS MUST ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS. Failure to do so will cause your application to be discarded. Applicants must answer the questions in their own words; if an applicant draws from other sources, those sources should be quoted and cited appropriately. If you are unable to complete the application online, please send a word-document with the below application information to [email protected]. Given the high volume of applicants, The Catalyst Foundation will only contact those applicants invited to interview.
